aids-pop-repressao:

Supposed typewritten suicide letter from Getúlio Vargas, who served as President of Brazil, early as dictator from 1930 to 1945, then reelected in democratic terms in 1951 until his suicide, in 1954. This letter was sent to the Brazilian press as the official final message from the President.
“Once again, the forces and the interests that are against the people coordinated again, falling upon myself.
They don’t accuse me, they insult me; they don’t fight me, they slander me and don’t give me the right of defense. They need to smother my voice and stop my action, so I can’t keep on defending, as I always have, the people and mainly the humble. I follow the destiny that is imposed on me. After decades of domains and despoilment of economic groups and international financial, I have made myself the head of a revolution and won. Started the labor of liberation and established a regime of social freedom. I had to waive. I came back to the government in the arms of the people. The underground campaign of international groups has allied to that of national groups rebellious against the regime of employment assurance. The law of extraordinary profit was detained in the Congress. Against the justice of minimum wage revision, hatred has grown. I willed to create the national liberty in potentiating our [national] wealth through Petrobrás, which has barely started and the wave of agitation has swelled. Eletrobrás is obstructed to despair. They don’t want the proletarian to be free. They don’t want the people to be independent.
(…)
I’ve fought month to month, day to day, hour to hour, resisting constant aggression, incessant, all endured in silence, forgetting all of it, renouncing to myself, all to defend the people that now tumbles in abandonment. Nothing more can I give you except for my blood. If the birds of prey want someone’s blood, want to keep leeching the Brazilian people, I offer in holocaust my life. I choose this moment to be forever with you [the Brazilian people]. When you feel humiliated, you will feel my soul suffering by your side. When hunger knocks at your door, you will feel the energy to continue fighting for you and your children. When you feel vilified, you will feel in my mind the strength to react. My sacrifice will keep us united and my name will be the flag of your battle.
Each drop of my blood will be an immortal flame in your conscience and will keep alive the sacred pulsation to resistance. To hatred I respond with forgiveness. And to those who think to have defeated me, I answer with my victory. Previously the slave of the people, today I free myself towards the eternal life. But this people to whom I was a slave, will be slaves themselves to no one anymore. My sacrifice will be forever in their soul and my soul will be the price of their rescue.
I fought against the despoilment in Brazil. I fought against the despoilment of the people. I have fought with an open chest. The hatred, the infamies, the calumny have not weakened heart. I gave you my life. Now offer my death. I regret nothing. I quietly take the first step in the way of eternity and depart from my life to enter in History.”
